Testimonials

On this page you can find some of the feedback that past clients have given about my work with them.

It is important to know that my clients deserve the applause for the success of their psychotherapy at least as much as I do as their therapist.

The clients’ motivation for change, their willingness to face difficult issues and their persistence in facing their themes between sessions are as important as the humanity and the professional skill set of the therapist.

In this psychotherapy with a 33-year-old, the overlap of our identities was particularly important, and the Internal Family Systems approach led to greater inner peace:

“Through therapy, I’ve reached a state in which I am able to live my gender identity and sexuality in a way that feels right to me. It helped me a lot to get to know my different parts so that I could listen to them better. It relaxes me a lot because I am no longer so at the mercy of these parts. I felt truly accepted with care and kindness. It meant a great deal to me that Calum didn’t treat me like some strange object of study, but rather as someone in the same boat as part of the queer community.”

It was a pleasure to support this client of mine who is happy to be known as a 29-year old ex-pat hairdresser:

“Calum was kind and caring from the very beginning. He was always prepared and I felt “remembered”. I really couldn’t recommend him enough. In an emergency situation for me, he was right there. He was always fast in communicating thru email. Calum’s office felt like a safe haven, and his help and direction were invaluable to me, as an expat in Germany I was so relieved to find a native speaking therapist who was also a great support”

For the next client, my non-formulaic approach was very meaningful and supportive:

“I am really surprised how the right words to the right receptive ears/situation can really spark a lot of action; none of it was cheesy bullshit, the ideas and tools worked and weren’t predisposed to outdated thinking which i’d experienced in the past.”

Often it’s really heartwarming to notice so clearly how nourishing therapy work can be for clients:

“My first therapy session was nothing like I expected. Instead of being cold or clinical, Calum put me at ease from the first minutes. I felt as if I was talking to a friend (albeit a very calming, patient and insightful friend).

Despite admitting to feelings and thoughts I had never voiced even to those closest to me, I never felt judged. I felt validated, heard and accepted.

The sessions were not full of advice and instructions as I had expected.  Calum led me to self-discovery and personal revelations. He has a keen attention to subtleties; word choice, body language, facial expressions.  And he used this awareness to ask exactly the right questions at the right to help me explore emotions and reactions.

With Calum’s guidance, I examined patterns I had held onto for years. Together, we developed strategies to approach these patterns in a different, more productive way.

I will always be thankful for Calum for helping me look at myself realistically, forgive myself for my flaws and helping me shift my perspective. The small changes added up to self-acceptance, contentedness and truly, a feeling of being free”.
